As concrete ages and is walked upon daily, it may begin to crack or shift. This is often caused by natural shifting, weather, usage, or faulty soil compaction beneath the concrete. Some of these issues are unavoidable, but Utah Foundation Repair can repair or lift the concrete and get it back to its original condition for the long term.
Instead of tearing out the cracked concrete and replacing it, concrete lifting will be a quick, cost-efficient alternative to keeping your concrete level. There are a few methods of lifting concrete: “mud-jacking” and polyurethane foam. Both options are very similar, in that they will allow contractors to pump materials underneath the concrete to fill in the soil deprivation; thus, lifting the slab.
The term, "Mud Jacking" refers to a method that is used in fixing and leveling concrete slabs. It may also be called concrete leveling, pressure grouting, or slab jacking. A slurry of water, dirt, and concrete is pumped beneath the concrete area to lift the slab back up. The ingredients will vary depending on the different types of companies and specific jobs. Mudjacking can also be utilized to correct other problems around the house such as foundation settling, crumbling curbs, and repairing falling sidewalks.
Similar to “mud-jacking”, repairing concrete slabs is simplified with high-density polyurethane foam that is injected beneath the slab of concrete to raise it up, and keep it level with the area around it. Polyurethanes are a stiff and strong material used in the construction of many tools and items that require a lot of strength. It is a strong material that will provide a sturdy foundation allowing you not to worry about walking or driving over the repaired concrete slab. Although this task can be easy and quick, professionals should take charge of completing and monitoring this project to ensure that it is done right.
